米Microsoft傘下のMojangは2月18日（日本時間）、Java版「Minecraft」のレンダラー（描画システム）を「OpenGL」から「Vulkan」へ移行する計画を発表した。夏頃にスナップショットとして「Vulkan」をテスト導入するという。

Mojang Studiosは2月19日（現地時間）、提供中のサンドボックスゲーム『マインクラフト』におけるJava版にVulkanを描画APIとして導入する予定だと明らかにした。リリース以来使い続けられてきたOpenGLからついに移行する。

Mojang Studiosは，「Minecraft」のJava版スナップショットとBedrock版のベータ/プレビューで，最新スナップショット「26.1-snapshot-8」を配信した。
